Who Has Seen the Wind?
by Christina Rossetti
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you :
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you :
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing now.
I Had a Little Spider
by Emma & Eleanor
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I had a little spider
We kept him in a box
When we opened up the lid
He'd tied his legs in knots.
I had a little spider
We kept him in a box
To keep his little feet warm
My gran kitted him some socks.
I had a little spider
We kept him in a box
He's rather black and hairy
So we called him Goldilocks
I had a little spider
We kept him in a box
I should have let the lid shut
Because now he's gone and got lost.

Kestrel
by Erin Mazur
Swift on the wing, powerful flight,
I soar, my tail spread wide
I fly for freedom, I fly for life,
On feathered wings I glide.
I am a Kestrel, the flyer, the soarer,
I am a falcon, I am a Hawk.
Death by air, I hunt the land,
Nothing but fresh killed flesh I eat,
I am a taker of life, please understand,
I kill by nature, not by will.
I am a Kestrel, the hunter, the thief,
I am a Falcon, I am a hawk.
Prettiest of the Falcon blood,
I have not a blue bird's song and beauty,
Nor a swan's long-necked grace,
But I am strong, fast, and free.
I am a Kestrel, the hunter, the thief,
I am a Falcon, I am a hawk.

Yellow Weed
by Lillian Moore
How did you get here, weed?
Who brought your seed
Did it lift on the wind and sail and drift
From a far and yellow field?
Was your seed a burr,
A sticky burr that clung to a fox's furry tail?
Did it fly with a bird who liked to feed
On the tasty seed of the yellow weed?
How did you come here yellow weed?

War
by Anon
War,
What is it good for?
Lifeless bodies
As far as the eye can see.
War,
What is it good for?
Manipulation
Third rate propaganda
And fanaticism.
War,
What is it good for?
Shattered dreams
Despair and trauma
War,
What is it good for?
Victory!
But with all we have lost,
Have we really won?

Harm No Living Thing
by Mick Leigh
Harm no living thing
Let your hand harm no living thing
Tread not on the busy ant
or things that crawl or creep.
Cause no mischief to those that fly
Leave in peace watery creatures
Renew your spirit, soul and energy
From provided plants that cure and heal.
Forbid your mind from searching greed
For only more is enough.

Harvest Hymn
by John Betjeman
We spray the fields and scatter
The poison on the ground
So that no wicked flowers
Upon our farm be found.
We like whatever helps us
To line our purse with pence;
The twenty-four-hour broiler-house
And neat electric fence.
All concrete sheds around us
And Jaguars in the yard,
The telly lounge and deep-freeze
Are ours from working hard.
We fire the fields for harvest,
The hedges swell the flame,
The oak trees and the cottages
From which our fathers came.
We give no compensation,
The earth is ours today,
And if we lose on arable,
Then bungalows will paw.
All concrete sheds around us
And Jaguars in the yard,
The telly lounge and deep-freeze
Are ours from working hard.

A Dream
by Tabassum Khan
I say
Open our hearts
Like a new flower
Let the hatred in us
Flow away like a stream
Let justice be set in our hearts
Like a stone standing
Straight and firm
I have a dream that one day
People all around the world
Shall eat from the plate of the peace
And say together
'We shall stay so always'.
One day
A tree will grow high and strong
In the garden of justice
And live forever.
